Dancing to Transgress: lessons from bell hooks

...is a workshop series that questions traditional educational settings and challenges today’s teachers, teaching artists, activists, and community leaders to re-imagine what a successful and inclusive learning environment can look like. This workshop centers values in cultivating an inclusive educational community, multiculturalism, and the arts. It was inspired by ideas articulated by author, activist and educator, Bell Hooks from her 1994 book “Teaching to Transgress: Education as the Practice of Freedom”. This workshop is curated and facilitated by dance artist and teaching artist, Caitlin Green. (made possible by Build a Bridge International)

In this workshop series, you can expect to engage in collaborative topic discussions, a short journaling process, and brief movement exercises. No prior dance experience necessary! Please come prepared with a notebook/paper, something to write with, and comfortable clothes.

This free workshop series will be offered in (4) 45-60minute sessions, Saturdays at 11:30am (June 13, 20, 27 and July 4)
